BOOKS 19/01/10
Book covers, love them, watch, design and illustrate them. One of my "wishes" for the 2010 was that I could do more book covers and so far looks good because lately I´ve been doing lots of them actually. I recently finished a really nice assignment, set of book covers for Random House, Tim Parks´ stories of Italy, see them here. I´m working on few other covers right now, and will poste them here as soon as I can.
EXHIBITION 16/12/09
If you happen to be near or in Madrid, go to see the HELSINKI-MADRID FINDESIGN show in Matadero Madrid, it´s truly amazing view of the best modern Finnish design out there now. It will be there till 10th of January 2010. I´m participating the show with two posters.
Here´s more about the show: Helsinki–Madrid FinDesign is an interactive show that exhibits over several hundred pieces from Finnish designers, artists and companies that work in distinctly different fields. The exhibition is a result of collaborative work by the Finnish and the Spanish: the Helsinki Design Week and the Association of Designers in Madrid DIMAD. The project is supported by the Ministry of Education.
And on side note, if you are planning to order a print from the print shop. all the orders done after 22nd of December will ship after 2nd of January.
NEW WORK 30/11/09
I was lucky to enough to be invited to participate Nobrow issue 2. If you don´t know them already, Nobrow is London based small press that produces amazing hand printed publications and art prints.
Nobrow Issue 2: The Jungle is finally available to buy! With an amazing all-star line up including the likes of Marc Boutavent, Henning Wagenbreth, Blexbolex, Pietari Posti and Paul Blow, and the emerging talents of Eda Akaltun, Jon Boam, Jack Teagle and Sroop Sunar, Issue 2 is shaping up to be a real collectors item!
Nobrow Issue 2 cover designed by Berlin-based French artist Blexbolex, winner of the 2008 Leipzig book fair award for 'Most Beautiful Book'.

NEW WORK 17/11/09
Autumn has been really busy, and I´m working on new exciting projects that I can´t reveal just yet. I just got back from Paris from the Bellaciao book launch and exhibition. The book is published by my French agent and book publisher Michel Lagarde, more about it here (in French). My Bellaciao illustrations can be seen here.
If you will be around Madrid go to visit FinDesign expo in Matadero in Madrid for great illustration and design from Finland.

NEW SITE! 15/09/09
Summer is over and it´s time to get back to the drawing board, actually I´ve been busy the whole summer working, except the occasional free days here and there to work on my tan. But now the tan is gone and I´ve been busy these last few days to bring you my new website FINALLY! ..I know it´s been long time since no updates, although I´ve done some Tweeting in the summer. The site has gone quite profound change not just visually but under the hood too. For example now you can use the tags search my images, and the whole site is just easier to manage now, read: more updates more often.
New works for Bon Bon Kakku, Wired Italy and more added to the portfolio. I have finally a proper online print shop too. Prints will be changing depending of the demand and you can request some print if you don´t see your favorite there.
What else? Oh yes, I´m proud to announce that I have joined in the ranks of the ROCK of EYE Australasian illustration agency. It represents some of the heavy weights of illustration world, like Rinzen, Non Format, Adrian Johnsson to name few.
You can also find me from the new gestalten Illusive 3 book which should be in all the good book shops around the world already. Don´t forget the Naive book too. I will be featured in the upcoming Illustration Now 3 also, but more of that later.

SPEND! 11/09/09
Urban Outfitters is selling GIANTS! pillow designed by me. Digitally screened onto a cotton and linen blend - uses flowing lines to soften the otherwise overwhelming blow of a gigantic squid ravaging town and engulfing the entire front of the pillow. Unfortunately US and Canada only. Small corrections to the text in Urban´s site "her" should be "him" and instead of Australia it should say Spain.. if someone cares.

I am very happy that DGV is using one of my illustrations for the cover of Naïve - Modernism and Folklore in Contemporary Graphic Design -book. Plenty of my work is featured inside the book too.
I am also excited to announce that one of my GIANTS! pieces was selected to the American Illustration 28.
